At least 174 people have just died in what is now become the second of most deadly Stadium stampede in history. And an additional 180 people were injured in the crush off after their home team Arema suffered their first home defeat in 23 years to their long time rivals enraged roughly 3000 fans invaded the pitch, setting fire to cause, attacking the players and officials.
To combat this, they were met with the illegal use of tear gas from police which sparked mass panic across the entire Stadium. Thousands of scared fans surged towards the Stadium's exits, where 174 were killed by either suffocating, being trampled on after falling down or simply being crushed to death.
And what's even worse is that, Fifa, the governing body states that "no crowd control gas should be carried or used by stewards or police at matches" for this exact reason. And on top of that 42000 tickets were sold for a Stadium that has a maximum capacity of only 38000. The death toll is likely to increase, but i'll keep you guys.
